Physical Reporting Rules, Tuition Fee Payment, and Status Retention Guidelines
Physical reporting is an indispensable requirement for securing admission under Maharashtra State CAP. Candidates allotted a seat in Round 1 must physically report to the Dean/Principal of the allotted college along with all original documents and requisite fees. Key rules and directives established by the State CET Cell include:
- Mode of Fee Payment: The annual tuition and institutional fees must be deposited strictly via Demand Draft (DD) or Cheque drawn from a recognized bank in favor of the Dean/Principal of the allotted college, or via online RTGS/NEFT payment mode as specified in the allotment letter. Cash payments are not accepted.
- Submission of Original Certificates: Candidates must submit all original academic documents, NEET UG scorecards, admit cards, nationality/domicile certificates, and constitutional reservation certificates at the time of admission. The institute will issue an official Original Document Acknowledgment Receipt.
- Status Retention Form (Form 1): Candidates who are fully satisfied with their allotted college and do not wish to participate in subsequent rounds (CAP Round 2, Round 3, or Stray Vacancy Rounds) must sign and submit the Status Retention Form on or before September 04, 2026 (05:30 PM). Once submitted, the status retention cannot be withdrawn under any circumstances.
- Upgradation in CAP Round 2: Candidates who want to try for a higher preference college in Round 2 must physically report, submit original documents, pay the college fee, and obtain an admission receipt WITHOUT submitting the Status Retention Form. Such candidates remain eligible for Round 2 upgradation. If upgraded in Round 2, the previous seat is automatically cancelled and allotted to another candidate, and the original documents and fees (after deduction of Rs. 1,000 administrative charge) are transferred to the newly allotted college.
- Free Exit and Penalty Rules: If a candidate allotted a seat in Round 1 chooses not to report or pay fees at the allotted college by September 04, 2026, their Round 1 allotted seat will be forfeited. Under Maharashtra State CAP regulations, candidates who do not join Round 1 are still eligible to participate in Round 2 with fresh choice filling.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) Regarding Maharashtra NEET UG 2026 Round 1 Allotment
Q1: Where can I download the official Maharashtra NEET UG 2026 Round 1 Selection List?
Answer: The official provisional selection list broadsheet PDF is available for download on the State CET Cell Maharashtra medical portal at medical2026.mahacet.org and cetcell.mahacet.org.
Q2: What are the physical reporting dates for Maharashtra NEET UG 2026 Round 1 allotted candidates?
Answer: Provisionally allotted candidates must complete physical reporting, document verification, and tuition fee payment at their allotted college between August 31, 2026, and September 04, 2026 (up to 05:30 PM).
Q3: Is it compulsory to join the college allotted in Round 1 to participate in Round 2?
Answer: Yes. To remain eligible for seat upgradation in Maharashtra CAP Round 2, candidates must complete physical joining, submit original certificates, and pay the prescribed fee at their Round 1 college without submitting the Status Retention Form.
Q4: What happens if a candidate submits the Status Retention Form in Round 1?
Answer: Once a candidate signs and submits the Status Retention Form (Form-1) at the allotted institute, their admission is locked permanently for that college, and they exit the subsequent counseling rounds (CAP Round 2, Round 3, and stray rounds).
Q5: Can I withdraw the Status Retention Form after submitting it?
Answer: No. Under Maharashtra CET Cell counseling regulations, once the Status Retention Form is submitted, it cannot be withdrawn or cancelled under any circumstances.
Q6: What is the penalty if I do not report to my allotted college in Round 1?
Answer: If you do not report to your allotted college by September 04, 2026, your Round 1 allotted seat will be cancelled. However, you can still participate in CAP Round 2 by submitting fresh preferences.
Q7: What mode of fee payment is accepted at medical colleges during physical reporting?
Answer: Colleges accept fee payments strictly via Demand Draft (DD) or Cheque drawn in favor of the Dean/Principal of the respective college, or through verified RTGS/NEFT payment transfers as mentioned in the allotment order. Cash is not accepted.
Q8: Which documents are mandatory for caste category verification in Maharashtra NEET UG admissions?
Answer: Reserved category candidates (SC, ST, VJ/DT, NT-B, NT-C, NT-D, OBC, SBC, SEBC) must produce the original Caste Certificate, Caste Validity Certificate (CVC) issued by the Maharashtra Scrutiny Committee, and a valid Non-Creamy Layer (NCL) certificate (for applicable categories).
Q9: How does seat upgradation work from Round 1 to Round 2 in Maharashtra NEET UG counseling?
Answer: If a candidate who joined Round 1 without status retention is allotted a higher preference seat in Round 2, their Round 1 seat is automatically cancelled and allotted to another merit candidate. The Round 1 college will immediately return all original documents and transfer the deposited fee (after deducting a Rs. 1,000 administrative charge) to the newly allotted college.
Q10: What is the difference between Opening AIR and Closing AIR in the Maharashtra Selection List?
Answer: Opening AIR represents the highest NEET score (lowest All India Rank number) admitted to a particular college in that specific category/quota, while Closing AIR represents the last candidate rank admitted to that specific category/quota in CAP Round 1.
Q11: Where can I find personalized counselling support for Maharashtra state and All India quota medical admissions?
Answer: You can explore our dedicated Medical Admissions Category, use our All India College Predictor Hub, or Book a Free Admission Counselling Session with our experienced medical counselors.
