What is Round 2 Seat Allotment and How Does It Work?

In simple words, seat allotment means the computer matches your NEET score and your college choices to give you the best possible medical college seat. MCC conducts four rounds in total: Round 1, Round 2, Round 3 (also called Mop-Up Round), and the Stray Vacancy Round. If you participated in earlier stages, you can review our detailed MCC NEET UG Round 2 Choice Filling Guide for seat locking insights.

The MCC NEET UG Round 2 Seat Allotment is very important. In Round 1, if you got a seat and did not want it, you could leave without losing any money. This was called “Free Exit”. You can check the rules that applied during the first round in our MCC NEET UG Round 1 Reporting Guide. But in Round 2, the rules change. If you get a seat in Round 2 and decide not to join, you will lose your security deposit money.

MCC first shares a practice list called a provisional result. This gives every student a few hours to check if their name, rank, category, and allotted college are correct. If something looks wrong, students can send a message to MCC. After checking all messages, MCC shares the final result and allows you to download your official allotment letter.

Case 1: If You Get a Seat for the First Time in Round 2

  • If you want to take the seat: Go to the college between September 12 and September 18, 2026. Show your original certificates, pay your college fees, and complete your admission. If you still want to try for an even better college in Round 3, you can choose “Yes for Upgradation” at the college.
  • If you do NOT want the seat: You do not need to go to the college. However, you will lose your security deposit money (Rs. 10,000 for government colleges or Rs. 2,00,000 for deemed private colleges). If you want to try again in Round 3, you must pay the fee and deposit again.

Case 2: If You Joined in Round 1 and Got Upgraded in Round 2

  • Your old Round 1 seat is automatically cancelled and given to another student. You cannot go back to your Round 1 college.
  • You must take an online Relieving Letter from your Round 1 college and report to your new Round 2 college.
  • If you do not join your new Round 2 college, your seat is cancelled and your security deposit is lost.
